Kalecgos

Kalecgos

  • Description

There have been many Master Heroes in the game of WoW TCG but none have been as deck-centric as Kalecgos.

This guy is probably the most rewarding master hero to transform into. First a sample decklist:

    Hero: High Magus Olvek

    Master Hero: 4

    4 Kalecgos

    Abilities: 44

    4 Fire Blast

    4 Glaciate

    4 Glacial Tomb

    4 Cold Front

    4 Blistering Fire

    4 Arcane Barrage

    4 Focus Magic

    4 Vortex

    4 Scorch

    4 Arcane Missiles

    4 Ripple

    Equipment: 4

    4 Bottled Knowledge

    Locations: 4

    4 Throne of the Tides

    Quests: 4

    4 Seeds of their Demise

It plays like a Storm deck for those of you that are MTG players. You just want to get a turn where u can spam all your abilities and turn into kalecgos.

The Key is to setup your top deck with Magus Olvek or with Seeds of their Demise. This is where the skill factor comes in. You can choose to fail the Olvek ability by naming Ally on turn 5 in order to peek at the top card and see if you can Focus Magic for a 0 cost ability. Otherwise, if you know what the top card is aside from when it’s your draw step you can Focus Magic and combo off as well.

Once you combo off, you are not in the clear yet. You need to make the Arcane Barrages count. Hopefully you discarded some with Bottled Knowledge and can know play them again from your graveyard. This will result in pure value. 4 damage from an ability played form graveyard + 4 damage from the ability’s copy. This is your win condition here. Once you are Kalecgos, you want every draw to count. You always have to draw firepower/gas. Your Glaciates basically stop 2 attacks and draw you 2 cards. Sometimes, they will do nothing vs. solo decks so be careful to delve them down. Also, I switched out Blistering fire in my final version for  Arcane Foresight which I felt was more useful in the clutch as it can kill some pesky little guys early on.

It is soooo easy to misplay this deck as you always need to do quick math. You also need to see when you can properly combo and not die. Sometimes you will face the random mage that packs Counterspell and that is just horrible for you if they know your deck. Also, Ulthok or any Armored solo deck is bad news. If anything, this deck teaches you how to properly time your plays in an otherwise more straightforward CCG.
